Merit — Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 4, 2026

Merit ("the app") is a volunteer hours tracker for iPhone, made by Brian Kershner. It is designed so that your data stays on your device.

What we collect: almost nothing

Your volunteer log — entries, dates, hours, organizations, supervisor names, notes, and any names you enter — is stored only in the app's local database on your iPhone. It is never uploaded, synced, or transmitted to us or anyone else. The app works fully offline and has no account system. Merit does not use GPS and does not track anyone's location.

Purchases

If you buy Merit Pro, the purchase is processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat, a purchase-management service, to validate purchases. RevenueCat receives a random anonymous identifier and your purchase history for this app — never your name, contacts, or volunteer log. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Analytics and tracking

Merit contains no analytics SDKs, no ads, and no tracking. We do not collect usage data.

Exports

PDF and CSV exports are created on your device and shared only where you choose to send them (print, email, AirDrop, etc.).

Face ID

If you enable the app lock, authentication is handled entirely by iOS. Merit never sees your biometric data.

Children

Merit is intended for student volunteers and their families. Because no personal data leaves the device, no personal data about anyone — including minors — is collected by us.

Deleting your data

Delete any entry in the app, use Settings → Delete all entries, or simply delete the app — everything it stored goes with it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address.
