Hearth ("the app") is a homeschool attendance and hours tracker for iPhone, made by Brian Kershner. It is designed so that your family's records stay on your device.
Your homeschool log — student names, lesson entries, dates, hours, subjects, notes, work-sample photos, your state selection, and any names you enter — is stored only in the app's local database and private storage on your iPhone. It is never uploaded, synced, or transmitted to us or anyone else. The app works fully offline and has no account system. Hearth does not use GPS and does not track anyone's location.
Camera and photo-library access are used only to attach a photo of a work sample to a lesson entry. Images are resized and stored on-device only.
If you buy Hearth Pro, the purchase is processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat, a purchase-management service, to validate purchases. RevenueCat receives a random anonymous identifier and your purchase history for this app — never your name, your students' names, or your records. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Hearth contains no analytics SDKs, no ads, and no tracking. We do not collect usage data.
PDF and CSV exports are created on your device and shared only where you choose to send them (print, email, AirDrop, etc.).
If you enable the app lock, authentication is handled entirely by iOS. Hearth never sees your biometric data.
Hearth is intended for parents and guardians who homeschool. Because no personal data leaves the device, no personal data about anyone — including students — is collected by us.
The state information shown in the app is a convenience summary compiled from public state sources and is not legal advice. Requirements change; confirm them with your state before relying on them.
Delete any entry or student in the app, use Settings → Delete all records, or simply delete the app — everything it stored goes with it.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address.
